Britta Hansen earned her Master's degree in Film and Television Studies from Freie Universität Berlin while simultaneously starting her career at Ziegler Film, where she produced among others ARD Degeto’s first German-commissioned projects.

She went on to collaborate with Cinecentrum Berlin for the popular crime series SOKO Wismar. In 2006, Britta co-founded Danckwart & Hansen.film (GbR) with Gesine Danckwart, a creative partnership that spanned a decade and focused on cinema, documentary and interactive projects across diverse production contexts. 

In 2013, she launched the Polizeiruf 110 Magdeburg series for the Leipzig-based company Saxonia Media, where she worked as a staff producer on a range of fiction projects.  In 2023, the international miniseries VANISHED (Red Pony Pictures powered by Saxonia Media) was selected for the co-production co-production meetings at Series Mania. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in February 2026 in Reykjavik.

Since January 2025, Britta Hansen has resumed work as a freelance producer, currently collaborating with Ziegler Film and Red Pony Pictures.
